D-Ring Extenders for Fall Protection

Webb-Rite Safety specializes in fall protection equipment, and for over 20 years, our family-owned company has designed, engineered, and installed high-quality systems to keep people safe during any job. Our fall protection systems create multiple points of safety and use everything from body harnesses and deceleration devices to prevent and mitigate the dangers of falls. We offer a full line of D-ring extenders. These components are specialized to meet the needs of fall systems across multiple industries.

What Are D-Ring Extenders Used for in Fall Protection?

D-ring extenders make it easier for individuals to hook fall protection equipment to the dorsal D-ring. Used in conjunction with self-retracting lifelines (SRLs), D-ring extenders won’t add additional swing forces. SRLs can reduce slack, so the fall distance doesn’t change, which gives workers the ability to use D-rings safely.

While D-ring extenders can be used with both lanyards and SRLs, it’s important to be cautious with the arrangement of fall protection systems during installation. The original dorsal D-ring, for example, can’t be used to hold anything but the extender when the extender is being used.

We fabricate our D-ring extenders with industrial-strength materials that can withstand falling forces, such as standard webbing as well as:

  • Kevlar:This strong material has many inter-chain bonds that give it incredible tensile strength. It has heat-resistant, para-aramid fibers that form a web. Our products use Kevlar 129, a lightweight type of fiber that’s ideal for fall protection equipment.
  • Webb-Kote:This material meets ANSI standards for dielectric and electric arc. We coat our anchor straps in Hy-Flex urethane. This coating protects the fibers from potential abrasion and wear, so your company can trust the integrity of their safety equipment. Hy-Flex is a family-owned company that specializes in coatings.

The Safety Requirements Our Products Meet or Exceed

We work hard to create fall protection systems our customers can trust in any environment. We fully comply with standards set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). Three of the most important standards we uphold are:

  1. ANSI Z359.1, the standards section regarding “Safety Requirements for Personal Fall Arrest Systems, Subsystems and Components”
  2. OSHA 1926.502, the safety standards governing fall protection systems criteria and practices
  3. OSHA 1910.66, the safety standards governing powered platforms for building maintenance

OSHA establishes work and safety standards for a variety of industrial environments across the United States. These standards create uniform safety requirements that companies must uphold to keep their employees, on-site visitors, and the surrounding community safe. Many of these standards apply to dangerous situations where workers face the possibility of fails. These situations include:

  • Elevated platforms
  • Holes and pits on exterior worksites
  • In-progress and large-scale constructions

Our fall protection systems can be customized to meet or exceed the safety requirements for any potentially dangerous situation with a fall risk.

ANSI also creates systems of standards that keep people safe by promoting uniform safety standards. It supports voluntary standards and conformity assessment systems across multiple industries around the world.
